After a strong result in the 12u & 14u Australian Teams Championships, I was confident that this event was going to be a success for Rahul Desai. There were moments of brilliance, hesitation and patience throughout all three of his matches at the event. This is the reality of the game of tennis so it is imperative that you keep a clear state of mind on court. It is critical to do so in order to allow yourself to be in the moment to compete at 100% of your ability.
Rahul certainly played a terrific event and as his coach, I can say it was a great result for his first ever showing in a national championship. Rahul was one of only 2 players from NSW to advance to R3 of the 12u singles event, winning two 3-setters but eventually falling to the number 1 seed in Aidan Vaughan of VIC. He was also a semi-finalist in the 12u doubles event with partner William Hatzis, both representing NSW. Of course, there are many areas of improvement as always, however it will only get better from here as we continue to refine and develop his game. Well done!
